Class 1 HGV Driver

At GI Group, we are currently recruiting for Class 1 day drivers for our client in Coventry, CV5. With a focus on reliability and excellence in service, we are currently seeking a dedicated Class 1 Driver's to join us today for long-term work including the possibility of a temp-to-perm.

Class 1 HGV Driver Overview:

  • You will be specialising in container transport, ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of goods.
  • You will be responsible for transporting containers to and from designated locations.
  • You must adhere to all road safety regulations and maintain high standards of professionalism.

    Class 1 HGV Driver Shifts and Hours:

  • Monday to Friday (weekend work available)
  • Start Times: 04:00-08:00am

    Class 1 HGV Driver Rates of Pay:

  • Monday to Friday - £15.90 / £17.82 with holiday pay included
  • Saturday - £18.40 per hour / £20.63 with holiday pay included
  • PAYE ONLY

    Key Responsibilities:

  1. Safely operate and drive Class 1 vehicles for container transport.
  2. Ensure the secure loading and unloading of containers, adhering to safety guidelines.
  3. Plan routes effectively to optimise delivery schedules and meet customer requirements.
  4. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any issues promptly.
  5. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of deliveries, mileage, and fuel consumption.
  6. Communicate effectively with dispatch, colleagues, and customers.
  7. Adhere to company policies, procedures, and all relevant legislation.

    Qualifications and Experience:

  8. Valid Class 1 driving license with relevant certifications.
  9. Previous experience in container transport essential.
  10. Clean driving record and a commitment to safe driving practices.
  11. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  12. Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  13. Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
