Are you a highly capable Infrastructure Engineer ready to step into a Team Lead role, or already leading infrastructure projects and looking for more autonomy? This is a fantastic opportunity to take technical ownership of a modern infrastructure estate spanning on-prem and cloud systems, while guiding a small internal team and reporting directly to senior leadership.
This role is ideal for someone who wants to stay deeply hands-on — someone who thrives on solving problems, owning systems, and delivering consistently high-quality infrastructure support in a fast-paced software environment.

The business develops automation and data platforms used in research, development and testing environments across mobility, clean energy and laboratory sectors. With a globally distributed development team and a strong UK presence in Worcester, the company combines engineering excellence with a flexible, people-first culture.
Your background as an Infrastructure Team Lead:


  • Extensive hands-on experience across Windows and Linux server environments

  • Strong knowledge of VMware vSphere, networking, VPNs, firewalls and virtual infrastructure

  • Experience managing or mentoring small IT or infrastructure teams

  • Confident working independently, with the ability to prioritise and lead technical delivery

  • Practical experience supporting cloud platforms – primarily Azure (GCP is a bonus)

  • Familiarity with supporting software development environments and DevOps tooling

  • Strong understanding of IT security and incident response

  • Degree-qualified or equivalent professional experience

Infrastructure Team Lead responsibilities:


  • Take ownership of the company’s hybrid infrastructure: on-prem and cloud-based

  • Remain hands-on across VMware, Windows/Linux servers, and internal network infrastructure

  • Guide and support a small internal team (task direction, mentoring, escalation support)

  • Manage and optimise Azure cloud infrastructure used across dev and business systems

  • Ensure availability, performance and security of core systems and services

  • Oversee laptop and desktop support and liaise with third-party support providers

  • Collaborate closely with software teams on deployment pipelines and infrastructure needs

  • Contribute to planning, continuous improvement, and infrastructure modernisation
