Platform & Application Engineer - Fully Remote (UK) - Up to £90,000 per annum

The Opportunity:

Leo Recruitment is working with a pioneering FinTech start-up poised to become the market leader in bespoke payment systems for the yachting sector. This company is looking for a highly skilled Platform & Application Engineer who can take ownership of critical projects, balancing infrastructure and application development work.

Salary: Up to £90,000 per annum.

Location: Fully remote. (Preferably UK-based but other locations may be considered. You must have clear written and verbal English communication skills suited to a remote technical environment, and be eligible to work in the UK with UK NI.)

    Your Role and Responsibilities:

  • Architect and manage cloud infrastructure using AWS, with a focus on observability, security, and performance optimisation.

  • Design, implement, and maintain infrastructure as code with Terraform.

  • Build and maintain scalable APIs in TypeScript, deployed on AWS.

  • Ensure code reliability with frameworks such as Vitest or Jest.

  • Embed security best practices into all layers of the platform, including API gateways and monitoring.

  • Work with Docker, AWS Lambda, and other tools to manage deployments and infrastructure automation.

  • Deliver well-thought-out solutions with minimal onboarding or guidance.

    What We’re Looking For:

  • You must be able to work effectively with minimal onboarding while having access to guidance when required.

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience designing and maintaining cloud-based infrastructure with advanced knowledge of observability, security, and scalability.

  • 5+ years of experience applying Terraform expertise to build and manage complex cloud environments.

  • 5+ years of experience developing robust, scalable applications.

  • Strong understanding of Docker, API gateways, CI/CD pipelines, and production infrastructure management.

  • Experience with automated testing and best security practices across cloud applications.

  • Ability to work independently with clear goals and defined expectations.

  • FinTech experience / Experience with Svelte for front-end development would be advantageous
