Are you a dynamic and experienced Systems Administration leader looking for a new challenge? My client, a forward-thinking and innovative company, is seeking a Head / Group Head of Systems Administration to oversee and drive the management of its critical IT infrastructure across multiple UK sites.

About the Role

As the Head of Systems Administration, you will be responsible for leading a team of skilled professionals, ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of our infrastructure. You will play a key role in the management of databases, virtualization, and containerization technologies across both on-premise and cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the administration of databases, with a focus on PostgreSQL.

Oversee the deployment, operation, and maintenance of Kubernetes clusters on both bare metal and cloud platforms.

Manage Docker containerization solutions for seamless application deployment.

Drive virtualization strategies, ensuring optimal performance and resource utilization.

Oversee the implementation and administration of VMware solutions across multiple sites.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance system performance, security, and scalability.

Ensure high availability and disaster recovery plans are in place and maintained.

Standardize and optimize infrastructure across several UK sites.

What We’re Looking For

Proven experience leading a Systems Administration team in a complex IT environment.

Deep expertise in PostgreSQL database administration, optimization, and troubleshooting.

Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes, both on-premises (bare metal) and in cloud environments.

Extensive knowledge of Docker and container orchestration.

Advanced understanding of virtualisation technologies, including VMware and other hypervisor platforms.

Experience managing multi-site IT infrastructure and ensuring seamless operations.

Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex system issues.

Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
