About the Position
Development and management of our productions systems moved in-house a little under four years ago, since then we have been building out a seriously talented team to grow our platform. Our core application is hosted in AWS on Linux containers, developed in C# .NET Core with a SPA Angular front-end along with an accompanying native mobile app on iOS & Android. We also have some data processing services and machine learning workloads.
You will be a core member of the IT team delivering our 24/7 production system. Having been involved in production systems with multiple years of experience, you will have architected and built new applications and features, provided ongoing improvements and fixes. You’ll be the type of Engineer who is very comfortable diving deep into code. With this knowledge you’ll be able to quickly get up to speed with our application domain and start making an impact.
For the mobile development, we are looking for experience of Kotlin and Swift, and for someone who has experience developing native mobile apps and APIs.
Your primary focus is shared between the ongoing improvement and support of our mobile app and improvement and support of our web app where necessary. You will be working alongside the Developers working on different layers of the infrastructure. Therefore, a commitment to collaborative problem solving, sophisticated design, and the creation of quality solutions is essential.

What You'll Do:

  • Translate designs, wireframes and user stories into high quality solutions.
  • Develop intuitive, usable, and engaging interactions and visual designs for mobile and web.
  • Participate in the full development process from definition, through design, build, test, release, and maintenance.
  • Research and track advancements in mobile/web application design patterns.
  • Break any design problem down into viable actionable units of work and solve them with clarity and precision.
  • Staying in the loop and on top of the latest standards, changes, trends in the mobile/web design field.
  • Design, build, and maintain high performance, reusable, and reliable code.
  • Cooperating with the back-end developers in the process of building the RESTful API.
  • Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of the application.
  • Identify and correct bottlenecks and fix bugs.
  • Help maintain code quality, organisation, and automation.
  • Help maintain build server Xcode and packages.
    What We're Looking For:
  • Hands-on experience with core iOS frameworks such as UIKit, Combine, Core Data, and Core Animation.
  • Ability to optimise and enhance the performance of iOS applications.
  • Proven track record of developing and maintaining iOS applications.
  • Proven ability to deliver high quality designs to meet customer requirements.
  • Deep knowledge of SPA best practices, architecture and modularisation based on extensive work experience.
  • Experience with offline storage, threading and performance tuning.
  • Experience of geo-location, tracking, and mapping is beneficial.
  • Deep understanding of Apple’s HID guidelines, and Google’s Material design.
  • Familiarity with cloud message APIs and Push Notifications.
  • Knack for Benchmarking and Optimisation.
  • Proficient understanding of version control software such as Git.
  • Familiarity with continuous integration.
  • Multiple years development and delivery of mobile applications in a commercial environment on iOS/Android platforms with a portfolio of mobile applications that demonstrate your ability to build and support mobile applications that integrate into corporate business critical systems.
  • Significant portfolio of applications built with a SPA framework either wholly by yourself or as part of a team where significant portions of the application were built by you.
    Technical Experience: iOS Development using Swift; Combine Framework; UIKit; Git
    Experience of the following would be beneficial: Kotlin; C# .NET Core; Angular or another SPA framework; UX / UI Design; Amazon Web Services; Gitlab CI or another CI/CD platform; RESTful API design; SQLite and MySQL; Mobile Automation Testing (e.g. Appium, Espresso)
